38/ FEBRUARY 2011 THE RIDER

OnTRA News Ontario Therapeutic Riding Association

This article was written by 12 year old Stuart McLean. Stuart rides at SARI in London, one of OnTRA's member cen- tres. Here are his thoughts on therapeutic riding, written in his own words: “What I think about therapeutic rid- ing. This is my thought about therapeutic riding. Therapeutic riding is all about making the rider feel relaxed, it doesn’t take long from beginning to end at SARI which is just outside of London. I am having an excellent experience with ther-

apeutic riding. It is exceptionally fun although my horse doesn’t always want to move when he is told to. But it sort of makes me feel goofy when we do the stretches and it is a little hard on the back to have my shoulders back and back straight. Therapeutic riding is a good idea for people that have any disability of any age. I would recommend therapeutic rid- ing to everyone! Especially people who love horses and have disibilities.”
