For nearly three decades now, the Ogallala Quilter’s Society has transformed the tiny town of Dimmitt into a world-class destina- tion for quilters, designers, teachers and students, with all manner of seminars, exhibits, banquets and juried competitions. This year’s featured teacher is Jane Sassaman, author of The Quilted Garden and Patchwork Sassaman Style. Her vibrant, nature-inspired art quilts have been shown in numerous national and international exhibits.

Corpus Christi’s longest- running pirate festival has been held on the city’s beautiful bayfront since 1938, featuring carnivals, tailgate parties, petting zoos, amusement park rides and its largest event, an illumi- nated night parade.
