LYNDON B. JOHNSON was born in a farm- house along the Pedernales River in Stonewall and grew up in nearby Johnson City. The fact that he moved back to his ranch just down the river from his birthplace when he left the presidency speaks vol- umes about the importance this place holds for his heart and his values. It’s still possible to explore the roots of the man at a number of places in and around Johnson City. Among them, the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site

The park is located 2 miles east of Stonewall, 14 miles west of Johnson City on US Highway 290 toward Fredericksburg. Adjacent to both Ranch Road 1 and US Highway 290; enter on Park Road 52.
