MICROLEASE APPOINTED AS VIAVI PREMIER SOLUTIONS PARTNER
Viavi Solutions, formerly JDSU, has appointed Microlease as a premier solutions partner. Under the arrangement, Microlease will sell new test solutions from Viavi. Viavi’s advanced test solutions facilitate the deployment and optimisation of next generation communication network infrastructure and services. The new instrumentation will
complement the rental and high quality used equipment services that Microlease already provides to the UK market. Viavi believes that, as a result of its further collaboration with Microlease, it will be in a better position to attend to the needs of its customers in the UK and satisfy their specific sourcing needs. The partnership means the core
Viavi portfolio will be available for both purchase and rental purposes. This includes award winning solutions
for the wireline and wireless test market from customer premise to core network, handset to content. It is backed up by substantial Microlease investment in commercial and engineering resources, including expert application engineers, so that customers can make well informed decisions when it comes to specifying instrumentation, as well as choosing the most appropriate sourcing method for their particular scenario. Through the mix of technical and logistical expertise offered by its staff, Microlease can help ensure that the criteria set by customers are fully met. The equipment will also be
available through ‘easy2source’, a Microlease programme which allows customers to save their capital by hiring for a fixed period and then converting to a discounted
purchase if and when needed. “Microlease is a key part of
our renewed channel program for Viavi. This collaboration will allow customers to access Viavi equipment in a more efficient and flexible way, in what is an ever changing test landscape,” commented Tony Bulleid, senior sales director EMEA for Viavi. “Through our cooperation with Microlease we will be able to engage the UK market more effectively, so customers can find solutions to quickly address the numerous challenges they face, caused by increasingly volatile network environments.” Peter Collingwood, CEO EMEA
at Microlease, added: “This new partnership between Microlease and Viavi Solutions means customers seeking network and service enablement test solutions know they

NIDAYS CONFERENCES TO FOCUS ON THE INTERNET OF THINGS
Registration is now open for the NIDays conferences. These will feature a full day of interactive technical presentations, hands-on sessions, plus case studies on the latest advancements in design, control and test. The morning keynote ‘Using a Platform-Based
Approach to Create the Internet of Things’ discusses how NI’s vision empowers engineers and scientists to speed up test, reach measurement decisions faster and enable smarter machines in the IoT. This keynote also features live demonstrations and examples. The afternoon keynote reveals how NI is helping to
create a climate of innovation, where tomorrow’s engineers will realise the true potential of the IoT. Delegates will be able to tailor the event to their specific industry or application, choosing from topics including Automated Test, Industrial Control, Data Acquisition and 5G. The events will be taken place in: London – 3rd
November; Eindhoven, Netherlands – 10th October 2015; Hørsholm, Denmark – 17th October 2015; Stockholm, Sweden – 19th October 2015. For other dates and locations worldwide please visit:

NVH SOFTWARE TO BENEFIT AUTOMOTIVE DESIGNERS
‘Re-shoring’ (also known as ‘on-shoring’) seems to be gaining momentum. Over the last couple of decades more and more companies started out-sourcing production to other countries. However, factors such as longer delivery times, increasing wage and transport costs, etc. mean this approach may no longer be viable for all companies. As a result, some companies are starting to re-locate production back to the UK. So, will ‘Made in the UK’ be something that we see a lot more often in the coming years?

Brüel & Kjær noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) simulation software is now available to automotive designers as a module in Altair HyperWorks CAE design software. Automotive designers using
the software can now choose a module called Insight+, which enables them to listen to the sound a vehicle would make if it featured their virtual design. This capability quickly processes CAE models into detailed sound models. David Mason, vice president,
Global Automotive at Altair, said: “The powerful capability of Insight+ to evaluate NVH testing and simulation data together, especially listening to the result, will enhance our customers’ ability to make critical decisions earlier in the design process.”
