INDIAN SUMMER AS LINE JOINS APT ON THE RIVER
Uniworld announces Ganges and Golden Triangle holidays
Uniworld River Cruises is launching cruise holidays in India in January 2016 that combine a voyage on the Ganges with a tour of the Golden Triangle. The 12-night tour takes in New
Delhi, Agra, to visit the Taj Mahal, and Jaipur, from where clients fly to Kolkata to embark on their cruise. The seven-night voyage is on the 56-passenger Ganges Voyager II,
an all-suite river craft launching in 2015. Highlights of the trip include a visit to Mother Teresa’s former home and tomb in Kolkata, a trishaw ride through Kalna and a visit to Mayapur, birthplace of the founder of the Hare Krishna movement. An optional two-night stay in the holy city of Varanasi is available. Uniworld is the second major
river cruise company to offer the Ganges. APT launched holidays combining a seven-night voyage on the river with a land-based tour of the Golden Triangle in January this year. Scenic Tours, which operates
river cruises in Europe, is making its first move into the exotic next year with new voyages sailing the Ayeyarwady in Myanmar (Burma) on the new 44-passenger Scenic Aura and on the Mekong between Siem Reap and Ho Chi Minh City on the new 68-passenger Scenic Spirit. The company is packaging Spirit’s
East India Dining Room, Ganges Voyager
cruises, which will include gratuities, drinks and butler service for all passengers, with land tours that take in Hanoi, Laos and Thailand.
