Manchester gains Cathay Pacific flights to Hong Kong The only direct service to China from outside London started on Monday with Cathay Pacific’s inaugural flight from Manchester to Hong Kong. Nikki Spoor joins Tourism and Hospitality Group Nikki Spoor, head of audit and regulation at accountancy firm White Hart Associates, will sit on the committee of the Tourism and Hospitality Group, part of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. The group will be closely involved in new Atol guidelines relating to a registration scheme for accountants who report to the Civil Aviation Authority and auditing for accredited bodies. Spoor said: “I will provide informed representation on behalf of the outbound travel industry.”
Belgium braced for more travel chaos as strike called Belgium is set to face further travel disruption as a nationwide general strike is called for December 15. A strike on Monday against government austerity measures forced Eurostar services to Brussels to terminate at Lille and suspended services into London, while flights were also cancelled at Brussels airport due to industrial action by baggage handlers.
American Airlines unveils $2bn upgrade next year A $2 billion upgrade of services in the air and on the ground is planned by American Airlines, a year on from its merger with US Airways. The revamp, starting next year, will include the introduction of fully lie-flat seats in first and business-class on almost all widebody aircraft, satellite- based internet access on international services, more inflight entertainment options and improved Admirals Club lounges worldwide.

Glasgow-based operator had held its Agent Achievement Awards north of the border. Agents were flown in from around the country to luxury hotel Cameron House by Loch Lomond. Travel 2 managing director Andy
