www.hmc.org.uk ★ What: Professional association of Heads of many of the world’s leading independent schools. It has over 250 members in the UK and Ireland. ★ News: HMC’s dedicated Sports Committee is chaired by John Claughton, Chief Master at King Edward’s School, Birmingham. The Committee is about to embark on a research project, as John explains. “We are conducting a survey of all our schools, which will give a full account of the scale and range of sport that takes place in HMC schools, as well as the level of activity, time committed, money spent, and expertise on offer. The survey will enable schools to compare their sporting provision with other similar schools and provide the outside world with a picture of the scale of commitment that HMC schools make to sport; showing that the outstanding contribution of our pupils to British sport, from the Olympics to the England cricket team, is not just a matter of chance.”
