Profi le: With an annual compounding capacity of almost 22,000 tonnes and an active portfolio of more than 2,000 customers, Julio Garcia e Hijos claims to be Argentina’s leading domestic producer of compounds and masterbatches. In July 2012, the company set up its third compounding operation, Concentrados y Compuestos in Pilar, where three new lines are currently being installed. These will increase colour masterbatch capacity by 1,200 tonnes/year. More than 90% of production is aimed at the domestic market, although the company’s distribution network covers Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay and Bolivia.
Product line: Julio Garcia e Hijos specialises in the production of white, black, colour and additive masterbatches and compounds based on variety of polymers. Additive products include UV-stabilisers, antistatic, antioxidant, anti-blocking and fl ame retardant materials. The company serves a wide range of industries including rigid and fl exible packaging, footwear, automotive, cables, toys, kitchenware, construction, diapers, textiles, agriculture etc.
Product strengths: In its laboratories Julio Garcia e Hijos has developed more than 10,000 customised colour variations which can be produced from 1 kg to several tonnes.
