Within seven months of its inception in 2005, UK-based Imagine Publishing had launched five technology titles. It hasn’t looked back since, and is bucking the trend with increased circulation figures, says Cathy Blackman.


What made you specialise in technology content? The founders of the company all had many years of experience in publishing successful technology magazines at other firms, but saw even greater potential for growth by doing things differently and focusing on creating premium quality, innovative content aimed at a focused audience of tech-savvy consumers.

How has the company evolved? The company has grown into a large and successful worldwide content publisher, with some of the highest margins in the publishing industry. Its focus on innovation and quality has paid dividends: it is the world’s leading publisher of bookazines, a highly profitable publishing format that is transforming the fortunes of the print market; it has won a


prestigious industry award for its success in the digital arena; and it is now also a major player in the booming knowledge/science market. How it Works, launched in 2009, proved an instant success with its uniquely colourful, accessible approach, later to be joined by sister titles All About Space, All About History and World of Animals.
