MESSAGE : WELCOME Welcome By CEO Henry (HyeongJoo) Kim

Welcome to Optimal Solution Magazine, from Doosan Infracore America, based in Pine Brook, New Jersey.

Optimal, by definition is, “the most desired or satisfactory state”. Therefore the “Optimal Solution” should be the most desired or satisfactory level of metal cutting solution we (Doosan) can provide to our customers in the metalworking community. However, the Optimal Solution is likely to vary based upon each manufacturer’s needs, with factors such as budget, industry served, volume produced and size of shop, to name a few. So what is optimal for you?

While we certainly can’t define what optimal is for everyone, the men and women at Doosan Infracore America have made it their mission to define optimal as the level in which we support you for the life of the machine tool or engineered solution we provide. To put that in simpler words, we came up with the slogan, “Performance under Pressure” and as a visual/ physical metaphor, we liken that level of support to that of a NASCAR pit crew supporting a race car. Maybe you’ve seen this in our recent ads?

Here’s why we chose the metaphor of a pit crew. A pit crew consists of a team of highly skilled (and conditioned) experts that support the race car and driver by servicing the car in as few as 11 seconds. In many cases, the pit stop itself is the optimal point during a race to pass multiple competitors. This is due to the fact that modern, state-of-the-art race cars feature the same level of horsepower and a similar amount of drag, making it extremely difficult to pass on the track when everyone is at top speed. Therefore, it’s accurate to say that the level of support provided by the pit crew is of equal importance to the performance specifications of the race cars themselves in supporting the driver.

We feel the same is true in providing you with the best, or optimal, metal cutting solution. Doosan’s latest machine tool technology has reached the highest level. Today, our machines are capable of achieving the same output and degree of accuracy of any other brand. But is that the optimal solution? Isn’t up time an equal factor?

In an effort to ensure Doosan’s people perform as well as our products, or machines, Doosan introduced its “2G strategy”, growth of business by growth of people, known as “The Doosan Way”. Born from a desire to become a caring group of powerful people, “The Doosan Way” has established a culture in which all Doosan employees are encouraged to deliver an unsurpassed level of support to customers.

In addition to creating an environment for recruiting and cultivating the powerful people required to grow, Doosan has also launched several customer support initiatives, such as a 24-hour Customer Support Hot Line. We’ve also increased the quantity and value of spare parts inventoried in the USA. And finally, we’ve established an in-house Automation Team that is second to none in developing and installing a wide variety of turnkey solutions utilizing state-of-the-art robots, gantries and multi pallet systems.

While we continue to develop the next generation of CNC machine tool technology, we hope you come see Doosan’s people performing just as well as our machining centers and turning centers … even under the highest degree of pressure.
