Metalcutting: Multitasking

Discover Machining Productivity Twenty-one advanced machine tools will be demonstrat- ing cutting parts for industries that include aerospace, automotive, energy and medical. The new Integrex j-200S multitasking center is designed for production of complex medium-sized parts and features a 5000-rpm turning spindle, 12,000-rpm milling spindle, and a second turning spindle for Done-in-One machining in single setups and improved part ac- curacy. Also being shown for the first time will be the Horizon- tal Center

Universal 4000 and 5000 models, Integrex e-1600-V10S, Quick Turn Universal 300 MY and S-220 MY, and Vortex i-800 V8. All machines will feature MT Connect communication of data and Mazak will show how real-time monitoring of its manufacturing operations through the protocol can improve manufacturing efficiency. Look for the new sophisticated Mazatrol control that will be demonstrated on Mazak’s high- end multitasking machines. Mazak Corp.

High-Precision Five-Axis Milling Machines

Five-axis machining centers will be show- cased, including the compact C12U, C22U, and C32U with Heidenhain CNC control, and the C42UMT with Sie- mens CNC control. The C22U can ma-

chine workpieces up to 300 kg. The C32U can handle cubic parts weighing up to 1000 kg for machining. The C42UMT with Siemens control provides highly dynamic processing

of workpieces weighing up to 1400 kg. With this multitask- ing five-axis machine, heavy components can be turned and milled for higher efficiency in one setup. Hermle Machine Co. Ph: 414-421-9770 Web site: www.hermlemachine.com

Turn Mill Center

The new Index G220 turn-mill center includes a motorized five-axis milling spindle and a tool turret with Y axis, providing maximum machining flexibility for turning and milling complex parts in a single setup. Distance be- tween the main and counterspindle is 1280 mm and maxi- mum turning length is 1000 mm. Opera- tors have easy ac- cess to the main and counterspindles, the

turret and the motorized milling spindle, as well as the operat- ing panel. Fluid-cooled, identical main and counter spindles feature a clearance of 65 mm (chuck up to max. 250-mm diameter), and provide power of 20/24 kW (100%/40%), a torque of 135/ 190 N•m and a maximum speed of 5000 rpm. A tool turret located in the lower part of the machine can be equipped with individually driven tools (power 6 kW, torque 18 N•m, speed 7200 rpm). Index Corp.

Multistation Mill/Turn Center

The ICON 6-150 multistation mill/turn center features four machining stations and two dedicated loading/unloading stations for flexible machining. Equipped with a

six-position table, the ICON 6-150 shuttles pal-

lets to four machining modules for fast, precision cutting and is equipped with four servo-driven, direct-drive B-axis motors producing five-sided machining with four-axis interpolation.
