We sincerely hope to meet many of you at one of this year’s industry events.

The Commercial Micro Manufacturing team are preparing for another busy trade show and conference season. We are hoping to meet many of our readers and contributors at the EPHJ-EPMT- SMT 2014 event in Geneva on 17–20 June. We spent some time at this established Swiss trade show last year and we were very impressed with the quantity and quality of the exhibitors and visitors; the conversations we had with the participants certainly confirmed that it is an event really worth taking the time off your busy schedule.

Another major event this year for us is going to be the COMS (Commercialization of Micro- and Nanosystems) Conference, which in 2014 will take place in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, between 12 and 15 October. This will be my fourth visit to COMS (after events in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA, Tonsberg in Norway and Enschede in the Netherlands) and I am expecting the event to be every bit as informative and enlightening as the previous editions. Every year he conference focuses on overcoming commercial hurdles in using emerging micro and nano technologies as solutions for the greatest challenges of our times (food, water and energy shortages and quality, as well as the environment and healthcare), and this year the specific theme is: Emerging Technologies for 21st Century Energy and Health Solutions.

The 2014 COMS is organised by MANCEF and the University of Utah and will be a great way to meet up with qualified professionals from all regions of the world, all concerned with developing and commercialising micro and nano technologies. It will also co-locate with nanoUtah 2014 conference on 13 October.

We sincerely hope to meet many of you at one of this year’s industry events!
