The highly successful Greenpower challenge to design, build and race a single seat electric car provides young people with a unique hands on opportunity to engage in engineering. The proven project uses the excitement of motorsport to inspire students from primary school through to university to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematical (STEM) studies. There are three classes in the Greenpower competitions.

IET Formula Goblins

Primary school students build the car chassis using a basic, reusable kit, but they must design and build the bodywork themselves and develop the necessary competitive driving skills.

IET Formula 24

Teams of students aged 11-16 design and build their cars with only the batteries and electric motor as standard issue kit and clear safety regulations to adhere to. Competitors race their cars in regional endurance heats, each lasting four hours.
