Funding for engineering projects and activities in schools
Through its charitable remit the IET is able to offer support for local education projects.

The IET provides an Education Fund which gives out awards of up to £5,000 to support UK-based projects aiming to encourage students, aged between 5 and 19, towards studying STEM subjects and engineering and technology-based careers.
Any organisation, including schools, capable of developing and delivering such projects can apply for funding. Applications must be endorsed by the IET Local Network in which the project will be carried out, and applicants need a referee who can confirm their ability to deliver the project.

The Institute of Physics (IOP), IET and Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) provide schools with funds to carry out projects, participate in activities or purchase materials not normally covered by school budgets.
The scheme awards funds up to £500 for projects linked to the teaching or promotion of physics or engineering and is open to all UK educational organisations teaching students aged 5-19. There are three opportunities to apply each year, with deadlines in February, June and November. Further information, including guidance notes and examples of funded projects, can be found on the IOP website.
