lege Curling as a “developmental” championship at its Fall Board of Di- rectors meeting. “Tis is an exciting development for the future of college curling in the United States. Tere is a great deal of growth potential for the sport on the college level," said Kim Nawyn, USA Curling's director of growth & development. Even though this means more access to USCA resources, the College
C
Curling Championship will still be a volunteer-driven event and relying heavily on our crowd-funding financial model. Look for future information regarding our 2014 funding drive. Te 2014 College Curling Championship has been set for March 14-16 at
the Four Seasons Curling Club in Blaine, Minn. Te Four Seasons club has six sheets of ice available and our championship format only requires use of four of those sheets. On the remaining two sheets we are planning “Hot Shots” style skills improvement sessions for the event participants during their “off-ice” draws. Tere also will be breakout sessions for faculty advi- sors/coaches. College Curling also is in the process of collecting lesson plans and syl-
labus outlines from those who teach curling as a physical education class at the college level. Te goal is to put together a recommended syllabus/ lesson plan that can be used or adapted to meet the requirements of a col- lege physical education course and be consistent with USCA's instructional guidelines. Tese documents will be published on our website,
www.col-
legecurlingusa.org. We are currently conducting a championship event logo contest. Te
