Team World announced for 2014 Continental Cup in Vegas

Titlis Glacier Mountain World Women’s Cham- pionship in March in Riga, Latvia, and Sweden’s Niklas Edin, who captured the 2013 Ford World Men’s Championship in April in Victoria, B.C., are set to lead Team World against Team North America Jan. 16-19 at the Orleans Arena. T is will be the fi rst time this event, which mirrors golf ’s Ryder Cup, will take place outside of Can- ada. “We are thrilled that the world champions
have decided to play in the fi rst WFG Continen- tal Cup ever staged outside of Canada,” said Ne- vada Lieutenant Governor Brian Krolicki. “We look forward to welcoming some of the world’s elite curlers representing Asia, Europe and North America to our iconic entertainment capital. We will do everything we can to ensure that the ath- letes and fans have an exciting and memorable experience of a lifetime.” In addition to the teams led by Muirhead and
Edin, Team World also will feature Sweden’s Margaretha Sigfridsson, a four-time world sil- ver medalist who will lead her country at the upcoming Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. T e women’s side also will feature rising 22-year-old Japanese star Satsuki Fujisawa, who just missed making the playoff tiebreaker at the 2013 World Women’s Championship in Latvia. T e two other men’s entries are skipped by
two-time world champion David Murdoch of Scotland and fan favorites - the T omas Ulsrud rink from Norway, three-time world bronze- medalists and 2010 Olympic silver medalists. “We are looking forward to hosting the event
