my Wisconsin office. Tat annual peaceful tran- sition sometimes sets off a sense of calm, which is quickly followed by mild panic as I realize the traditional curling season is in full swing. Even more so as we approach an Olympic year. Te 2014 U.S. Olympic Team Trials are now a mere two months away (less than that by the time this Curling News edition hits your mailboxes). Contests
T We launched our Fargo FANdango contest in
early August to find curling's most creative fan to help us promote the Olympic Trials in the lead- up and during the event. I'm happy to announce that Matt Gamboa of the Hollywood Curling Club will be joining us in Fargo in November. To be a part of his journey, follow him on Twitter (@ NoHoCurling). With the conclusion of the FANdango contest,
we launched the Sweeping to Sochi Team Cap- tain Campaign on Sept. 12. Tis is a donation- driven campaign to send two people to Sochi, Russia, this February to watch the curling action at the Ice Cube Curling Center as Team USA goes for the gold at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. For each $25 donation, you will be entered for a chance to win this trip! We will announce the winner live during the webstream of the Olym- pic Trials action during the 7 p.m. CT draw on Nov. 13. Visit
www.usacurl.org to enter the con- test.
Webstream & TV updates Te Trials will be live on the webstream for the
round robin courtesy of our partnership with the 12th End Sports Network. Once the competition draw is complete we will announce the web- stream schedule. NBC Sports Network will pick up the coverage on live TV for the playoffs Nov. 15-17. Tanks to funding from the World Curling

Many great curlers have paved the way for all
of us to be active in the sport or enjoying from afar. For the first time ever, we are going to try to put many of them in the same building. We are organizing the first Legends Night, which will honor all of USA Curling's Hall of Fame members. Te special night will take place Nov. 13 at Scheels Arena during the 2014 U.S. Olym- pic Team Trials. All Hall of Fame members (and families of those who are deceased) have been invited to this event, which we hope sets the tone for future events such as this to honor these great people. Jon Mielke, a Curling News columnist, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012. He elected to have his official ceremony take place during the Trials. Please plan to stop by the arena at 2 p.m. on Nov. 16 as Jon is formally inducted. "Te Biggest Loser"
At the end of September, I head to Park City,
Utah, as the United States Olympic Committee hosts a media summit to showcase 2014 Olym- pic hopefuls. On top of this great event, three U.S. Olympic curlers will be playing a key role in an episode of NBC's "Te Biggest Loser." Te Olympic-themed episode will air in January. Keep checking the USA Curling website for an announcement of when the show will air. 100 Days Out & the Road to Sochi Bus Te USOC will host its 100 Days to Sochi cel- ebration in New York City on Oct. 29. Olympic hopefuls as well as two-time Paralym- pian Jimmy Joseph will help fans and sponsors learn more about curling during a day long cel- ebration featuring all of the winter sports. We are very grateful to the members of the Long Is- land Curling Club who will be assisting us with the sport demonstrations and equipment. Te USOC also will be heading to Fargo in Novem- ber with its Road to Sochi Bus, which will feature an opportunity for fans to learn more about the sports they'll see at the upcoming Olympic Win- ter Games. Tey'll park it for a few days in the parking lot at the Scheels sports store during the Olympic Team Trials. Like these mittens below? Te USOC is start-
ing a Raise Your Hands campaign in October. We'll have some for sale at the national office and at key events this season. Tey'll also retail at Target stores. Have a great season. Go USA! n
