Flexicon introduces Tubular Cable Conveyors

Two new Barton Fabrications silos at Midlands based food company

Barton’s Penthouse

An all-new FLEXI-DISC™ line of Tubular Cable Conveyors for the gentle transfer of friable food and non-food products has been introduced by Flexicon. “The new tubular cable conveyor is a strategic addition that complements Flexicon’s established line of flexible screw conveyors and pneumatic conveying systems, allowing us to now convey virtually any bulk solid material in the most efficient manner possible,” says David Gill, president. “Flexicon has engineered and thoroughly tested the new conveyor over several years to significantly advance the technology and performance associated with this conveying method.” The conveyor moves material using high- strength polymer discs – affixed to a stainless steel or galvanised cable – that slide within smooth stainless steel tubing, moving fragile products gently, quietly and dust-free, horizontally, vertically or at any angle, through small holes in walls or ceilings. The system can have single or multiple inlets and outlets, and convey over short distances or hundreds of metres.

design improves safe working at height

A Midlands based food company has installed two new 80 tonne Barton Fabrications flour silos. The aluminium silo specialist has also been contracted to upgrade two of its existing silos at the site. The 20 metre high storage silos are linked by a high level gantry and are made to Barton’s ‘Penthouse’ design. This incorporates an enclosure at the top of the silo which houses filtration and metering equipment and accommodates the explosion panels necessary for ATEX compliance. The enclosure provides a safe, weather protected working environment for maintenance and calibration activities. In addition, it minimises the risk of contamination during these procedures. Commenting on the installation, Mark Barton MD at Barton Fabrications said: “We were pleased to be selected for the installation/upgrade work in recognition of the long, trouble-free service of the existing silos and our now well established ‘Penthouse’ ATEX compliant design. We worked closely with both the engineering contractor and customer to ensure minimum production disruption – the removal, refurbishment and re-installation of each silo was achieved in just three days.” Barton Fabrications is the UK’s leading aluminium silo manufacturer producing a range of bespoke silos including standard, clad and ‘Penthouse’ design ATEX complaint silos for the food and plastics industries. Yearsley Food Sales put new Urban Trailers into operation

Leading frozen food suppliers Yearsley Food Sales have put their first Urban Trailers into operation in a bid to further reduce the carbon footprint from its nationwide operation. The trailers which allow for increased load fills, and therefore a reduction in the number of journeys required also enhance the manoeuvrability of the operation within town centres. They also carry a new livery as part of the recent corporate rebranding. The livery shows the new logo and highlights just a handful of the product range available which

includes over 1000 different frozen food lines Sales Director, Ian King said “These new additions to our fleet of over 300 vehicles represent our next steps in an on-going strategy of replacing vehicles to ensure they remain as environmentally friendly and cost efficient as possible.
