Kitchen Sinks and Taps It's all about

design and function G

ood kitchen sink and tap designs are not just about utility problem solving. It’s about creating beautiful and practical objects that will perform in the home over the long term. They should stand out within the kitchen décor, delivering the right mixture of elegance and innovation in equal measure.

Comment by Darren Holliday Director, Abode

Who would have thought 10 years ago that customers today would be able to choose from such a wide variety of tap options. Hot, filter and aerated water, springs and flexi head extensions, light emitting diodes indicating water temperature plus built-in water saving and flow regulation measures. Architecturally tall, Art Deco styling, bridge taps, swan neck styles - all trend elements giving extra levels of functionality, without destroying the style. There have been many new concepts brought to market recently improving the aesthetics and ergonomics of the sink area, making the products both practical and stylish. With the use

of glass, granite, steel and ceramic in the designs, manufacturers are bringing the very best materials and natural textures to the home. With the changing habits of sink usage and with a far greater number of consumers using dishwashers, there are some unique accessories now available to make sinks into complete work-stations. Sliding glass sink covers and tempered glass chopping boards, non-slip drainer and sink mats, stainless steel colanders and other accessories, all make for exciting times ahead for all manufacturers.

Simplistic and Elegant Design from Abode T

he Abode challenge as designers of kitchen sinks and taps, as well as bathroom brassware and showers is to deliver the right mixture of simplicity, elegance and innovation, in equal measure. Our portfolio of design-led kitchen taps has been highly regarded since the Company’s inception 11 years ago and are widely distributed through a network of reputable partners, across the UK.

Our kitchen taps are available in a wide range of classic and contemporary styles and designs forming a perfect partnership with our sink collection. At Abode we constantly track design themes that we believe will become relevant in the future. Among the new products joining the Abode range of architecturally tall taps being launched at this year’s KBB show are Linear Style, Linear Flair, Specto and Nexa, all available in the popular finishes of Chrome and Brushed Nickel, to co-ordinate with appliances within the kitchen.

For a complete change to stainless steel sinks, look out for the black and white sinks that make up the Matrix GR10 range. These are manufactured from advanced acrylic materials – the black version has a metallic granite fleck, adding additional sparkle and the bright white granite sinks offer a tough durable and easy clean finish. Come and see our range of new and exciting products on Stand K10 at London’s KBB.
