ibra Industries is a privately held contract electronics manufacturing company that has been in business for more than 30

years. We recently met with the President of Libra industries, Rod Howell, who answered questions about his state- of-the-art facilities that are located in Mentor, Ohio. Rod, a former and early president of the SMTA, mentioned that Libra Industries provides customized manufacturing solutions that help make their customers more competitive and profitable. He said, “We believe in taking the time to listen to our customers and understand their specific needs. We view their challenges as our opportunity to provide a complete manufacturing solution with exceptional customer service.” Libra Industries offers a diverse range of services that ensure

complete product management from “ideation to realization,” which is the company’s moniker that proudly hangs on signage throughout the building. Libra understands that selecting the right EMS partner is essential to success in today’s complex marketplace. Libra’s total solutions approach manages every aspect of the product from concept to production, final assembly and test. Rod explained that Libra has assembled the most

experienced, dedicated team of manufacturing professionals to manage every aspect of the manufacturing process.

Libra has a presence in numerous industries, where does the company fit in?

The company’s management team has been selected based on each member’s extensive experience with lean manufacturing and total quality systems. Libra’s customer service team is focused on completing projects correctly and on time. With its highly developed methods of communication, customers are informed every step of the way – the way a true partnership should be. Libra also depends on its materials and equipment suppliers to meet these same stringent requirements. One such supplier, Horizon Sales, has been with the company for many

years. Dave Trail, president, said, “Over the years, I have enjoyed watching Libra grow and prosper. It built one of the first factories entirely dedicated to the manufacture and assembly of electronics in the Midwest United States. The main building was designed from the ground up to meet the ESD and rigorous environmental control requirements of an SMT manufacturing facility and it was followed up shortly thereafter with a second custom-built building for box build and test requirements.” He continued, “Rod Howell and I have developed a great

working relationship over the years and one thing that many do not know about Rod is his inexhaustible charitable work in giving to the local area and educational community. His positive character and professionalism are channeled throughout his organization and staff.”
