Tim Cull, Managing Director, Telecom Policy Services Ltd

TIM GAINED over 10 years experience as UK Policy Director, UK Government Relations for a major telecommunications manufacturer. There he was responsible for a wide range of regulatory and radio spectrum arrangements and the responses of that company to offi cial consultations. He also has over 15 years of practical experience in conformity assessment and market access matters for UK and the European region. This encompassed the entire scope of the operation from budgetary control through to order-entry process fl ows, including implementation through to completion of the project. Tim is an experienced technical management professional, leading engineering research and development teams for radio- communications terminals, especially for professional users.

David Taylor, Lead Consultant, Analysys Mason

DAVID HAS been a Lead Consultant at Analysys Mason for eight years. He has extensive experience delivering major public-sector projects, including systems that interface with the UK Airwave TETRA system – such as the £500 million Ambulance Radio Project for the Department of Health. He has in-depth knowledge of TETRA and other technical standards, including Project 25 and MPT 1327, and has worked in transport (including the iBus project for Transport for London) and the utility sector (the Electricity Supply Industry MPT 1327 system, while at Marconi) as well as for the emergency services. He has most recently been looking at the public safety requirement for future mobile broadband communications. Adrian Grilli, Managing Director, Joint Radio Company (JRC)

ADRIAN GRILLI is a Chartered Engineer, being a member of both the UK Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Institution of Engineering and Technology. He trained originally as an automotive engineer in the UK truck and bus industry. Subsequently, he joined the Civil Service and spent 20 years in government in a variety of posts in the Department of Trade & Industry and the Cabinet Offi ce. During this time, he spent two spells in the Radiocommunications Agency managing spectrum reviews and as Director of Broadcasting, Fixed Telecommunications, Space and Satellite Services. In 1996, he was appointed as the fi rst Managing Director of the Joint Radio Company Ltd, a joint venture between the then British Gas and the Electricity Association. Ownership of JRC is now vested in National Grid and the Energy Networks Association, although JRC’s membership has broadened to include all sectors of the UK energy industry, plus some transportation.

Alun Lewis, Telecoms Writer

ALUN HAS 30 years' experience in marketing communications, public relations and journalism in the convergence sector, believing six impossible things before breakfast – for practice, as Lewis Carroll wrote of the White Queen. During the 1990s he worked with Nortel EMEA as PR client for eight years, plus C&W and Bellcore. Alun has been a successful freelance now for over ten years, regularly contributing to most of the UK-based international telecoms publications and websites. He has worked with many clients, from Alcatel, Nortel, HP, Telcordia, Thomson, the TM Forum, etc., through to niche start-ups. Alun considers himself almost part of the furniture in the telecoms industry – if not the actual infrastructure....

Jonathan Hamill, Regional Director, UK and Ireland, Sepura

Jonathan joined Sepura in 2007 from Durham Constabulary where he gained considerable experience in a diverse cross-section of policing roles. In April this year he was appointed Regional Director after stepping up to the role of Deputy Regional Director in June 2010. Hailing from Northern Ireland, Jonathan lives in Durham with his family.
