Ann received a Bachelor of Science Degree from George Mason University (Magna Cum Laude) in 2004, and earned an Associates Degree in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1976. She also studied Fine Arts at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts in Paris, France and Art History at the University of Madrid in Spain. Ann was a 1972 graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School, Mt. Lebanon, PA. A life long student of God’s creation, Ann spent the majority of her adult life intrigued with and studying herbal remedies and medicine.


Ann was blessed to have been able to combine her vocation as a communications professional with her love of art, music and nature. She was passionate about environmental issues and social welfare activities especially community service on behalf of the homeless.

Ann Marjorie Gerstenberger, 55, who was a Graphic Design Manager for Presentation Services with Computer Sciences Corporation in Falls Church, VA died at the Capital Hospice in Arlington, VA on Sunday, May 30, 2010 after a nearly three year struggle with ovarian cancer.

Of Alexandria,VA passed away on June 2, 2010 in New Brunswick, NJ. Jason is survived by his parents, Philip E. White of Alexandria, VA and Jacqueline M. Foster of Alexandria, VA.; sister, Shannon M.White of Alexandria,VA; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Jason was a 2003 graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School. He resided in New Jersey, where he attended Rutgers University. The beloved daughter of H. Leigh Gerstenberger, Jr. (who preceded her in death) and Paula P. Gerstenberger of Mt. Lebanon, PA, Ann is also survived by two brothers; H. Leigh Gerstenberger (Mim) of Hudson, OH and Peter J. Gerstenberger (Kellyn) of Arlington, VA; a nephew, Robert L. Gerstenberger of Pittsburgh, PA; and a niece, Kathryn Ann Richardson (Cullen) of Rosslyn, VA. In addition, Ann will be greatly missed by a large number of devoted relatives and extended family in addition to numerous friends, neighbors and colleagues from St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Computer Sciences Corporation and the Joe Pye Society of Northern Virginia.


In the years leading up to and even after her diagnosis she vigorously pursued life - visiting the Peruvian, pre-Columbian city of Machu Picchu, swimming in the Amazon River and hiking the Grand Canyon with her dearest, childhood girl friend of more than 40 years, Ivy White.


An active member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Ann was a long time member of the church choir, former member of the vestry and also helped to compile an illustrated brochure of the church’s stained glass windows. Her passion for nature and gardening led her to serve as head of the St. Christopher’s grounds committee where her cremated remains have been interred in the church’s memorial garden.


A public memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 6320 Hanover Ave., Springfield, VA 22150.

JOHN M.MONGELLI (Age 76)


OfWashington, DC, died May 28, 2010. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Charles and Mary (Ondus) Mongelli. He was educated in Washington, D.C. public schools, served in the Navy from 1952-1954, and was employed by Bell Atlantic for 38 years. He served as a union steward during his time at the phone company. John was an active part of the community. He was on the Board of Directors at Greenbelt Homes, Inc., a member of the American Legion, volunteered at many charitable organizations, and most recently volunteered at Oscar Scher- er State Park. He is survived by his beloved wife Jane Frances (Petersen); sons, Robert Charles (Michelle), David Edward (Kimberly; daughters, Ann Marie Oliveto (Frank), Laura Jean Irwin (Richard); step-daughters, Courtnay Jane Kopec (Michael) and Teresa Marie Flani- gan; brother Robert Charles (Carol) and 18 grandchildren. Patrick William "Pat" Edwards died suddenly December 18, 2009. Pat was born in Bethesda, Maryland on May 23, 1954. He is survived by his parents, Eddie and Paulette Edwards, five siblings: Mary, Eddie, Claudette, Christine and Michael, and a host of relatives, friends and co-workers. Pat was an avid collector of books, movies, and albums. He loved to learn and took many college courses over the years. He lived in Paris for several months while studying French. Pat loved to travel and share his knowledge with others. He loved having people over for crab feasts, horseshoes and darts. Pat was an intellect, a lover of life, a hard worker and a kind soul. His fun loving and generous spirit will be greatly missed. Margaret Louise Petty Trenary, 88, of Stephens City, Virginia formerly of Alexandria, Virginia died peacefully Thursday, June 3, 2010, in her home. Mrs. Trenary was born in 1921 in Alexandria, Virginia, the daughter of the late William Franklin and Rose Olive Petty. She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Alexandria. Mrs. Trenary was a former member of the Corinthian Yacht Club in Ridge, Maryland. She was a graduate of GeorgeWashington High School in Alexandria, Virginia. Her husband, Elwood G. Trenary, whom she married on August 23, 1941, in Alexandria, Virginia, preceded her in death in 1994. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy T. Hunt, of Yorktown, Virginia, Brenda C. Trenary of Stephens City, Virginia; grandchildren, T. Daniel Hunt of Arrington, Virginia, Kevin D. Hunt of Yorktown, Virginia, Susan H. Giedt of Eagle River, Alaska, K. Molly Wiley, formerly of Middleburg, Virginia died peacefully at her Richmond residence on May 28, 2010. She had recently celebrated her 90th birthday. Molly as she was affectionally called was the daughter of the late Lawrence Lewis and Louise Wise Lewis Francis. She was born in Saint Augustine, Florida. Mrs. Wiley is survived by two sons Lewis B. Pollard of Warrenton, Virginia and Nelson C. Pollard of Saint Augustine, Florida and 6 grandchildren Fred Pollard, Maggie Pollard, Lewis Pollard, Lily Pollard, Ashby Pragar, Heather Smart, from her marriage to the late Fred G. Pollard of Richmond,Virginia. Her husband James L. Wiley predeceased her and she leaves two stepsons and one step- daughter James L. Wiley, Jr., Lewis S. Wiley, and Langhorne Canning and five grandchildren, Carter Wiley, William Wiley, Mary Wiley, Eliza- beth Wiley and Sheila Harrell. For many years Mrs. Wiley and her husband owned and oper- ated Gordonsdale Farm in The Plains, Virginia, where she enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She spent many winters at the Saint Andrews Club in Delray Beach and was an avid golfer winning several club championships. She also maintained a summer home at the Greenbrier Resort inWest Virginia. Molly Wiley was a generous philanthropist during her life. She and her late brother Lawrence Lewis established Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, and she was a large donor to the preservation of The University of Virginia and Poplar Forest. The Flagler College Art Center is named after her as well as several other building and scholarship endowments that she established. The last 10 years of her life she was a Trustee of the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust, based in North Carolina. Janine’s attributes included a beautiful singing voice, a classic sense of style and a talent for clothing design. She was also a wonderful cook of French and Italian cuisine. Janine’s beautiful smile, courage, love, and devotion to her family will be dearly missed. A graveside service was held at Southern Shores Cemetery on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
