Under the second deal, Arconic will supply 3D-printed titanium airframe brack- ets, also for the A320 platform. Arconic said it expects to deliver the fi rst parts under both agreements in the second quarter of this year. The pacts build on Arconic’s April 2016 deal with Airbus for 3D-printed titanium fuselage and engine pylon components. The agreements will draw on Arconic’s full range of 3D printing technology capabilities, including laser powder bed and electron beam processes. Further details were not disclosed.

America Makes, ANSI Release Preliminary Final Draft of AM Roadmap


merica Makes, the national additive manufacturing innovation institute, and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) have released for public review and comment a preliminary fi nal draft of the AMSC Standardization Roadmap for Additive Manufacturing being developed by the America Makes & ANSI Additive Manufacturing Standardization Collaborative (AMSC). Final publication of the docu- ment is targeted for this month. This request invites comments that represent critical revisions or needed


clarifi cations on what is presented in the document. Formally launched in March 2016, the AMSC was established to coordinate and accelerate the development of industry-wide additive manufacturing standards and specifi cations consistent with stakeholder needs to facilitate the growth of the additive manufacturing industry. The stakeholders include industry, academia, standards developing organi- zations, and the federal government. The group is not developing standards, according to the groups. The aim of the draft roadmap is to identify standards needed and foster a more coordinated approach to standards development for additive manufacturing.

Synalloy Agrees to Acquire Pipe, Tube Operations of Marcegaglia USA


ynalloy Corp. agreed to acquire the stainless steel pipe and tube operations of Marcegaglia USA for between $15 million and $16 million. The companies expect the deal to close by March 1. The transaction will exclude galvanized product and ornamental tubing products. The purchase price excludes real estate and some assets.


Sandvik Coromant Becomes Premium Partner of DMG Mori


andvik Coromant agreed to become a premium partner of machine tool manufacturer DMG Mori. Sandvik Coromant will work with the machine tool builder on a wide-range of initiatives, including R&D and engineering and open house events.
