WILLIAM J. QUINN, a longtime Loyola supporter, passed away October 24, 2015, at the age of 104. Quinn, who had a successful career in the railroad industry, first joined Loyola’s Citizens Board in the early 1960s. He was one of the first non-Jesuit members of Loyola’s Board of Trustees when it was opened to lay members in 1971 and he served as board chairman from 1978-1989. During his many years of service to the University, Quinn was a member of the Stritch School of Medicine Annual Award Dinner executive committee, chair of the Business Mobilized for Loyola University (BMLU) campaign,
and national chair of the Commitment to Care Campaign. Loyola recognized Quinn for his dedication and commitment to the
University on multiple occasions. He received the Founders Day Civic Award in 1975, the Sword of Loyola in 1984, and an honorary degree in 1990. Last May he was honored with a plaque on the Lake Shore Campus at the corner where the Damen Student Center meets the Norville Athletics Center, which has been dedicated as the William J. Quinn Plaza.
