CLASS NOTES 1950s


Louis A. Lehr Jr. (JD ‘51) received the Loyola University Chicago School of Law’s Medal of Excellence Award at the Alumni Awards Luncheon. The award recognizes alumni who have made significant contributions to the law school and to the broader legal community.


1960s


Richard T. Baran (BBA ‘63, MBA ‘77) has three new novels published by Total Recall: Where Have All the Go-Go’s Gone? Book One and When Will They Ever Learn? (Where Have All the Go-Go’s Gone?) Book Two, a two-part screwball murder mystery. A third novel, an adventure story, is The Dutchman’s Gift.


Dr. Julie G. Donalek (BSN ‘64) was recently awarded the Community Engagement Lead- ership Award by DePaul University School of Nursing. Donalek works with DePaul nursing student volunteers in providing care to low- income or homeless guests at the pantry/meal program provided by Ravenswood Community Services, a ministry of All Saints Episcopal Church in Chicago.

Gemma B. Allen Nader (BA ‘66) was featured in the April issue of Fra Noi magazine in a profile, “Family law trailblazer Gemma Allen,” which highlights her career in family law in Illinois and throughout the country.


Frank J. McAdams (BS ‘67) was interviewed by Peter Slen on C-SPAN-2’s Book TV about his Pulit- zer Prize-nominated book, Vietnam Rough Riders: A Convoy Commander’s Memoir, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Festival of Books.


Elizabeth A. Havey (BA ‘69) has published a col- lection of stories, A Mother’s Time Capsule.


1970s


Richard T. Casey (BA ‘70) retired in 2012 on his 30th anniversary with Raytheon Company. His career included IT management, systems engineering, and corporate communications.


The Hon. Robert J. Anderson (BA ‘71, JD ‘74) was the keynote speaker at this year’s Illinois Law- yers’ Assistance Program Bartylak Dinner.


Michael E. Burns (BSED ‘71) authored a chil- dren’s Christmas book, Oliver Ornament, available in hardback and paperback from Outskirts Press.


Timothy M. O’Brien (BBA ‘72) was elected Denver city auditor on May 5, 2015. He is respon- sible for auditing all departments and agen- cies of Denver city government including the airport, the Denver Water Board, and Denver’s enterprise activities. He is the past Colorado state auditor.


Michael J. Geisler, CPA (BBA ‘72) has been appointed chief operating officer for the city of Atlanta by Mayor Kasim Reed.


Douglas M. McCabe, PhD (MSIR ‘73) began his 40th year as a professor of management at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in Washington, D.C. Over the years, he has been the recipient of numerous research, teaching, and service awards.


William A. Rich (BS ‘73) released his first novel, Daniel and Job, a sci-fi adventure/romantic com- edy that incorporates elements of philosophy, religion, and mathematics.


Albert J. Schorsch III, PhD (BS ‘73, MA ’74) retired on June 30, 2015 as associate dean of the UIC College of Urban Planning and Public Af- fairs. He began work the next day as the director of the Integritas Institute for Ethics and with the
