Your source of power and information

TCEC is committed to keeping its members informed while providing safe, reliable and affordable power. Federal government regulations are drastically changing the way we do business, essentially eliminating coal as a viable resource for power generation. That leaves natural gas and renewable energy resources to meet our energy needs. Both have their pluses and minuses.

That’s one reason we installed a solar array and offer subscriptions to members. Because Golden Spread is also an electric cooperative, although a different type called generation and transmission, it strives to offer power to TCEC and its other member cooperatives at the lowest possible cost.

“The way we do business is changing,” Perkins said. “We are

planning today to keep your electricity costs low twenty years from now because we must be forward-looking in this industry.” Perkins said the cooperative wants to be the member’s trusted source to meet their energy needs.

Beware. Through the summer months, thunderstorms can quickly roll in and tornadoes can touch down, often during the afternoon and evening hours, according to researchers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Severe Storms Laboratory.

Follow these tips from NOAA and the American Red Cross to keep safe when tornadoes and severe thunderstorms come your way.

• Prepare for high winds by removing diseased and damaged tree limbs. • Designate a family meeting place for shelter during and after a storm. If possible, go to your home’s basement, a small interior room, or under stairs on the lowest level. Also, have a battery-operated weather radio handy along with emergency supplies.

Phone payments to be automated

Beginning in September, all phone payments will go through an automated system rather than a live operator. Other payment options will still be available. This change is part of TCEC’s conversion to an improved enterprise software system to enhance the service the cooperative offers its members. TCEC is repeating this notice to ensure members are aware of this important change. To view all payment options, visit www.tcec.coop. Thank you. 
