Trustee Elections By Jack L. Perkins

As trustee elections approach, I wanted to reflect on the importance of the role our trustees play at TCEC.

The greatest strength our cooperative has is the structure of the board. Because trustees are elected by members in their districts and are residential cooperative members themselves, they are looking out for the best interests of all members when making decisions.

Each of TCEC’s nine trustees commit to a monthly meeting . They often serve on board committees as well. One trustee also represents TCEC on the boards of the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives and Golden Spread Electric Cooperative.

Trustees are often leaders in their communities who are willing to serve in a capacity that offers few benefits and great responsibility.

The cooperative principle of Democratic Member Control makes trustee elections possible. 
