Valeria made both the Faculty and Principal’s Honor Roll each of her four years at MHS and was recognized as a 2016 Graduate of Honor and DisƟ ncƟ on. She demonstrated her academic prowess by compleƟ ng Advance Placement coursework in Language, Literature, StaƟ sƟ cs, Spanish and Environmental Science. She held membership in NaƟ onal Honor Society, where she co-chaired both the American Red Cross Blood Drive CommiƩ ee and NHS Veterans Assembly in 2015. She was also a Student Council member and co-chaired both the Homecoming CommiƩ ee and Teacher AppreciaƟ on CommiƩ ee for STUCO in 2014-2015. AddiƟ onal school involvement for Valeria included Key Club, Spanish Club, Interact Club, Yearbook Club and Newspaper Club, and was co-editor for both the school yearbook and newspaper. She was also a member of the school choir and a tennis athlete during her varsity career.


Community involvement was a priority for Valeria. She enriched her high school experience with many hours of volunteer service, including work as a server during a bene⇒ t golf tournament and at NEO’s Arts & HumaniƟ es fund raiser. She also donated Ɵ me for the MHS Food Drive, as a concession stand volunteer, and as a bell ringer for the SalvaƟ on Army.


Lisa Munson, Principal for Miami High School, said of Valeria: “Her academic record, as well as her parƟ cipaƟ on in extracurricular acƟ viƟ es are indicators of her moƟ vaƟ on and success. She is a hard worker, a quick learner and student who takes pride in all that she does. Valeria is an outstanding young woman who is respected by both teachers and students.”


Logan Sadd


AccepƟ ng the 2016 REC College Scholarship for the Delaware County area is Logan Sadd of AŌ on. Logan intends to pursue a degree in Computer Science and will commence his collegiate studies this fall at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami.


“This opportunity will help me represent Delaware County in a posiƟ ve way,” Logan said upon hearing that he’d been selected to receive the REC scholarship.


Logan managed to excel in his studies at Grove High School despite a challenging schedule that not only included working a job in the community but parƟ cipaƟ on in both band and football. He

Ms. Gonzalez plans to aƩ end OSU and study EducaƟ on or Nursing.
