“I think Scotland is an amazing country and I feel it has started to regain a sense of its own identity. If Saltire has to take flack from some quarters then so be it. He has broad enough shoulders to deal with it,” said Ferguson who has had his creation compared to Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings and Thor by a number of international reviewers.

“The series will run for at least eight books as we take Saltire through the mythological pseudo history of Scotland, from the Romans, Saxons,Vikings, the Wars of Independence and beyond, while always depicting traditional superhero dynamics.” he said

Now the superhero stories are poised to enter the US market where sales of almost 6 million comic books a year generate more than $80 million and that’s before any extra toy merchandising, T-shirts, movie and television spin-offs

“We think it’s time we let the big guy loose on an American audience and hopefully Saltire can enjoy some international success,” said Ferguson.

READY TO TAKE ON THE WORLD

With Ferguson making several appearances on ITV and BBC television and international reviews making favourable comparisons with Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings and Thor, the author is excited for the future. “The series will run for at least eight books as we take Saltire through the mythological pseudo history of Scotland, from the Romans, Saxons, Vikings, the Wars of Independence and beyond, while always depicting traditional superhero dynamics.” he continues.

With a new compendium for the American market coming soon, the future looks bright for Ferguson and his Scotish superhero.

Online exposure of the comic book franchise is growing rapidly with over 25,000 views of the new Saltire video trailer sending Scotland’s immortal guardian viral. It really looks like Scotland’s big, blue, ginger superhero is ready to go global.
