Executive Producer behind the new blockbuster movie and a major driving force behind a resurgence in interest about the flag and its mythical powers.
“I was in a shop looking at some books about all the clans and the names that belonged to them. I’m a Nicoll which is part of the Macleods so I bought a book and that’s when I really began to take notice of the Fairy Flag story.
“I couldn’t believe there wasn’t more about it. It’s a fantastic tale which has been handed down through the generations,” said Rory who ended up writing a novel about the flag with Peter Columbia.

The 40-year-old entrepreneur from Clackmannanshire has enjoyed a highly successful and varied career as a record producer, manager, documentary maker and author of eight books.
“At the time I was managing a young 17-year-old artist called Tiree Hunter and she recorded the famous song that goes with the flag, the Fairy Lullaby,” said Rory.
“The song was a great success too. Everybody loved it so I thought it would be good to make a video to go with it, based on the book I had writen with Peter.
“But when I showed it to David Izat it quickly became clear that a whole feature film was needed to do justice to the story. That’s how we ended up writing a movie script.”
Funding for the movie has come largely from Rory who has worked with a number of big names in the music industry, including Edwin Starr, Prince, Hue & Cry, Jimmy Somerville, Dream Frequency, DD Sound, Lisa Loud, Finbar Furey and many others.
