Bywaters, one of the UK’s largest waste management companies, have taken delivery of two x 3.5 tonne cage-tipper vehicles to provide a rapid response to difficult traffic conditions.
These will be used when local authorities, hospitals, universities or city businesses need quick removal of unplanned waste, either for a missed collection, office clearance or in response to fire, flood or an environmental incident.

Designed to reach customers as soon as possible, Bywaters’ new cage-tipper vehicles are small enough to travel through London’s busy traffic more efficiently than larger trucks, without the hindrance of width, height or parking restrictions. In London’s narrow streets, the small size of the vehicles enables them to carry out kerbside collections with greater efficiency.

The two cage-tipper vehicles are the latest additions to Bywaters’ £7m fleet of 62 eco-friendly vehicles, comprising 25 dustcarts, 5 tail-lift vehicles, 13 skip-loaders, and 17 hook-loaders. All vehicles meet Euro 5/6 emission standards and have heralded quieter operations and a much-reduced carbon emission standard (up to 96% reduction compared to non-Euro 5/6 vehicles).
LARGE RECYCLING CENTRE
The fleet operates from Bywaters at Bow, East London, which is licensed to process 650,000 tonnes of waste material a year, and has one of the UK’s largest materials recycling facilities.

Bywaters’ new cage-tipper vehicles are already working across London and the Home Counties, extending the range of waste removal services the firm provides to its’ customers.
All Bywaters’ vehicles servicing the capital have an on-board Dynafleet program, which monitors and tracks the vehicle’s environmental sustainability and the driver’s driving patterns.
Reports are generated by Volvo, to validate transparency of carbon dioxide emissions and overall vehicle productivity. In addition, Bywaters’ vehicles are fitted with Dynafleet vehicle tracking, and all drivers use digital tacho cards.
Mark Harbard, Associate Director, Bywaters said: “London’s historic streets were not designed for today’s traffic and width, and height and parking restrictions can hinder collections. When time is critical, these vehicles enable us to be more responsive to customer needs.”
