2017: THE EXPERTS’ VIEWS

Quality and longevity must take precedent before price

“With all predictions pointing towards a rise in the price of raw materials, I would expect to see a period of adjustment in 2017 as manufacturers seek to establish and counter any impact that it may have on margins whilst mitigating any negative impact on customers.

“Egbert Taylor Group is well placed to meet the anticipated rising cost of steel head on, mainly as a result of its 360 degree service proposition, which includes a well-established refurbishment programme that can significantly offset spikes in raw material cost whilst providing an end product that doesn’t compromise

on quality. “In line with this,

we are expecting to see demand for our refurbishment programme increase by at least 10 – 15 per cent during the first half of 2017. “I also believe a

rise in steel will eventually lead to organisations, from local authorities to those operating in

the private sector, re-evaluating the way

they view their waste assets. For example, Sellers is widely known for creating highly engineered products that can stand the test of time, which many of our clients

report have lasted for decades. “In a climate where the cost of raw

materials is increasing, a long-term view that places quality and longevity before price must be taken. “To further mitigate the rising cost of

raw materials Egbert Taylor Group has spent 2016 developing a solution that we believe will not only have a hugely positive impact on the waste spend of our clients, but also revolutionise the waste solutions procurement process. As to what this is, we expect to reveal all in 2017. “Finally, we expect Sellers’ WasteSafe,

which has been developed to store and transport hazardous waste, to generate much more interest from the UK market in 2017. “Over recent years this product has

traditionally been purchased in Europe, however a weaker pound is likely to make those responsible for hazardous waste container procurement rethink their approach.”
