KENDAL CHRISTMAS SALE
T
he Christmas Show and Sale of dairy cattle on Thursday 10th December at Kendal saw an entry of 27 forward. Pre-sale judges Andrew and Chris Ladds of Kendal tapped out Berryholme Jasper Maud from David Wright as overall champion. Having calved a fortnight before the sale she sold giving more than 30 litres and went on to make the day’s top price of £2380 to Andrew and Chris Ladds. TOP PRICE FOR RAVENSGATE AT SKIPTON
P
eter Baul led trade at Skipton on the 14th December with his reserve champion Ravensgate Tiergan Blossom 166. Sired by Cogent Tiergan and out of Northside Blossom 138 this heifer sold one month fresh and giving 32 litres for £1750 to John Howard, Heslaker. Averages: heifers £1266, cows £1121, 11 in-calf heifers £1007, maiden heifers £581, seven heifer calves £268. (CCM Auctions)

FIRST MID MONTH SALE REACHES £2100 TOP T
he opening Wright Marshall Mid Month Sale of pedigree and commercial dairy cattle including sections for the Western Holstein Club’s Focus Milk cattle for 2016 took place on the 12th January at Beeston Castle.
In the milking section 274 were forward and peaked at £2100 for Burnbrae Hayden Beechnut from Jack and Barclay Taylor. Sired by Wa-Del Hayden she sold giving 34kg a day.
