giving 39kg a day. She stood junior champion at Emerald Expo, Rathdownley, Tullamore, Maid of Glamvia and Millstreet Shows.


Junior interbreed champion was Greenlea Shottle Pledge from Padraic Greenan. This March 2014-born heifer is due to calve in March. She stood champion at Breffni Oriel Calf Show, reserve at the National Calf Show, junior champion at Castle Blaney, Tydnavet, Virginia and second mature calf at Millstreet.


She was followed all the way to reserve interbreed junior champion by the Henry family’s second prize winner Mostragee Silver Invite. This October 2013-born daughter of Sandy Valley Alta Silver is due in January to Soloman. She stood reserve champion at Northern Ireland’s Calf Show and seventh


at the All Britain All Breeds Calf Show.


Bordermist Windbrook Fran from Northern Irish breeders George and Jason Booth stood first in the youngest heifer class and honourable mention. Purchased from the Bordermist Syndicate she stood junior champion at Antrim Show and first at Omagh.


In the other classes Glaslough Miss Mersia won the junior second calver class for David and Kenny Boyd. Three weeks fresh and already giving 53kg a day this Mr Minister daughter scored VG88 as a two year old. As a heifer she was never beaten winning All Ireland heifer in milk at Tullamore, intermediate champion at the National Show and heifer champion at Balmoral Show. She is a full sister to the successfully shown Glaslough

Kilwarden Windbrook Vix won the senior second calver class for Brochan Cocoman. This was the first show outing for this month calved young cow that was shown giving 37kg a day. George and Jason Booth claimed the second class win for Northern Ireland in the third calver class, again with the Southern bred Clongowes Atwood Thelma. Bred by Clongowes College she was purchased at the dispersal sale for €3000 as an in-calf heifer. Classified VG88 as a two year old she calved at the end of September and was shown giving 50kg daily. She stood second at the Royal Ulster Winter Fair as a heifer and second calver, in 2014 she stood intermediate champion and honourable mention overall at the Irish National Show.


Evergreen Duplex Ebony took the overall interbreed championship for Liam Murphy, judge Selwyn Donald congratulates showman Steve McLoughlin.


In the Holstein and interbreed championship Evergreen Duplex Ebony was followed in reserve by Hallow Advent Twizzle 3.


It was such a close placing in the mature class between the eventual champion and reserve that the judge took to his knees.


Standing top of the fourth calver class was Northern Irish exhibitors George and Jason Booth’s Clongowes Atwood Thelma.
