GILDERSBECK OUTSIDE RACHEL 3


Rachel is one of many cows in the 550 strong Coverdale- based Gilderbeck herd to have surpassed 100t. Calved for the 10th time in mid October and only turned 11 years old in January 2016.


This VG87 Comestar Outside daughter calved for the first time at 10 days under two years of age and after a mere 7275kg first lactation has notched up eight successive lactations over 10,000kg, with her fertility such that only two have made it to 305 days in fact she has only had 15 straws of semen over 10 calvings.

wearing. Over the years we have registered 78 daughters of Comestar Outside, of which 30 have ended up VG and a further four EX so far with Rachel being the first of a few likely to reach the LP100 milestone.


Rachel has also bred on well, with six daughters so far, the best being a VG89 Bolton daughter which is just finishing her third lactation off having given 11,956 kg at 4.09%bf and 3.15% p and is still giving 33kg a day. She is also dam of a VG87 Baxter daughter which had a third lactation of 13,676kg and a fourth of 12,268kg. Having averaged 32kg a day of life since her first calving, Rachel is the kind of cow we like at Gildersbeck, and with

Laura Barnes (nee Sales) had a busy year in 2015. She married her fiancé Lee on 11th July at Farrington Park, Bristol. The couple then became parents to a little boy, Kyran Neil Martin Barnes on 24th November weighing 7lb 11oz.

STONEYLOW LOOKOUT SILK Stoneylow Lookout Silk, more commonly known as 93 comes from a family of prolific milkers, but is the first to break the 100t barrier. She is one of several Moet Lookout cows which have served us well over the years. She is an independent, no nonsense cow, which gets on with life, does not like fuss or attention and generally stays out of trouble. Ann Ford
