ooking back to last summer it was the end of July when the club visited the Whitsand herd at Stone Farm, Millbrook, Torpoint, home of Club chairman Peter Blake, wife Sarah and children Amy and Sarah. The weather was glorious for our wander around the milking herd and young stock and later in the evening the members present enjoyed a hog roast

he Norfolk herd competition was judged by John Arrowsmith who awarded champion herd to the Easthaugh Herd of L G Brigham and Sons, ahead of other senior herd entrants Airfield, Lyngate and Etling.

Junior winners were Easton and Otley College’s Marlingford Herd. The Easthaugh herd also produced the star cow, Easthaugh Audrey 70 and won the group of three RML cows. Other winners included

and barn dance, with proceeds of the evening going to the Cornish Holstein Club and Cornwall Air Ambulance. The Club’s Annual evening show was held on Friday 13th November at The Cattle Shed, Wadebridge Showground. Judge was Jim Westaway, Cullompton. For the first time the show included classes for the other Cornish dairy breeds, which


proved a great success. Quality was strong throughout and the show drew a large number of spectators. The evening concluded with a pasty and pudding supper and an overwhelming raffle. The Club is grateful to Mole Valley Farmers – Farm Feed Solutions for their sponsorship of the event.


Briarfield Seaver Cilla 54, best homebred heifer from David Britton, the best female family, Marlingford Kathleen’s from the College and best Red and White Cow, Lyngate Churchill Handsome Red.


September saw a well- supported Norfolk All Breeds Calf Show with 41 handlers and 53 calves entered. Roger Steeples was master judge and stars of the show were the under six class, Designer and the Moody girls were on great


form, Charlie was champion Holstein handler with Robyn reserve. Holstein and interbreed champion calf was Designer Dreams Amanda.


The stock judging cup was won by Eddie Brigham with Ken Proctor second, then joint third David Britton and Louise Edwards. The annual dinner is set for 26th February at Glen Lodge where the HYB member of the year will be announced.
