NOMINATIONS E

ntries for the 2015 All Britain Awards were up by 10% with more than 120 entries for the judges to deliberate over. Judges were the Royal Highland Show, Royal Welsh Show and Balmoral Show judges: Hugh Neilson (Overside), Brian Weatherup Snr (Parkend) and John Lawson (Sweetings). Commenting on the competition John Lawson said: “The overall standard of the entries in the All Britain Awards was high, although, it was disappointing that only four heifers were forward in the junior two year old section. The mature cow section was the best class with a lot of strong entries forward. As one of three judges, I felt Brian, Hugh and myself got on well and there were no disagreements in our decision.”

The mature cow class was restructured to reflect the class structure at UK Dairy Day and following confirmation from the selection committee the class was split in to a five year old in milk and mature cow class.

The results of the All Britain

Awards will be announced at the All Britain Dinner held on the evening of UK Dairy Expo at the Shepherd’s Inn, Carlisle on Saturday 12th March. Tickets for the dinner are available from Harrison and Hetherington Livestock Department, Carlisle. This is held in conjunction with UK Dairy Expo.
