How often do you walk the park? What are some of the most important lessons this has taught you?

Jason McClure, Cedar Point, USA: By spending time in the park and talking with guests we have been able to provide additional comfort areas for non-riders or the thrill seeker that just needs a moment to catch their breath. Whether it's a more comfortable place to sit in the shade, a quiet space for some, or a prime location to watch their family enjoy a world-class Cedar Point rollercoaster, you can be sure that we locate these areas properly by first observing how guests use the park.

Mario Mamon, Enchanted Kingdom, the Philippines: With my office being in the park itself, I always find time to walk the premises at least once a day when it is in operation and even when it is not. Being observant of my surroundings in the park, as well as both guests and employees, has taught me a great deal in keeping up with what should be and what should not. Personal experience and observation is a key tool for me in learning how and what our guests feel and how our employees should conduct themselves.

Hogne Høstmælingen, Hunderfossen Familiepark, Norway: During ordinary operating days I always walk the park the last hour before opening to check that everything looks fine, and also to talk to, guide and motivate our employees. Additionally, I normally walk the park at least once a day while we are open. On peak days, I walk the park almost continuously. The park is such a vibrant society that has to be continuously tuned and optimised by management from walking around and listening to the different attention to detail from our employees.

Dale Kaetzel, Six Flags Over Georgia, USA: I walk the park several times each day. I do this to capture and understand the evolving opinions and ideas from our team members and our guests. I certainly enjoy the opportunity to interact with them on a daily basis.
