Hunderfossen 2017 Fairytale theatre coming to Norway

Wearable device replaces Q-Bot for accesso

Accesso is to phase out its Q-bot ride reservation device in favour of new wearable technology linked to its LoQueue virtual queuing system. Prism allows guests to enjoy a more

care-free park visit. With just a swipe of a finger on the wristband’s touchscreen menu, users take their place in the virtual queue for an attraction or show. There's no kiosk or smartphone required. If a ride’s operation is temporarily interrupted, or a show is rescheduled, the Prism will notify the guest of the update. The wearable device does much

more than wait in line for guests, however. It allows for a fully integrated “smart park”, creating a more engaging and seamless guest experience – from front gate entry, to facilitating secure cashless purchases, sending push notifications or triggering events based on guest location. “With Accesso Prism, we introduce

an improved way for visitors to enjoy attractions, and for attraction operators to offer more fun, more convenience, and less waiting for their guests,” says accesso CEO Steve Brown. Of course it can also a great potential revenue earner for parks too.

he Norweigian family park Hunderfossen, curently in the midde of its annual Winterpark season (vinterparken.no), will this year invest 15 million Norwegian krones (€1.7m/$1.8m) in new attractions and updates.

“We’re having a total makeover of our go-kart attractions with fantastic new electric

karts from SODI and the world’s best protection system from Protex,” reveals park director and general manager Hogne Høstmælingen. “We’re building a brand new restaurant close to the pool area, with hot and crispy sandwiches and fresh juices. We’re renovating our high ropes course, adding 10 new obstacles, and most importantly we’re making a huge building complex for our theatre.” The nicely themed outdoor peformance space, as pictured left, will be inspired by

Norwegian fairytales, which Høstmælingen believes will rise the quality of the performances.

Eagle Force takes flight

This new ride concept is the result of a collaboration between Willy Walser's new enterprise Ride Engineers Switzerland (RES) and the German company Marc Rides. Available either as a park or travelling model, the

attraction features a central frame with a crown of seats on either side. The frame rotates between two towers while the crowns rotate around their own axis. As the main frame turns, the seats keep their horizontal orientation. As an added twist, the ride can be built on a turning

platform, giving a unique, multidimensional ride experience. Different gondola and seating configurations can also be realised. No customers have yet been confimed.

Coasters kick off Preston & Barbieri

2017 schedule The Italian ride manufacturer Preston & Barbieri (P&B) will unveil three family rollercoasters in 2017. At Hansa Park in the north of Germany, Kleine Zar was due to undergo testing just before Christmas after TÜV-related issues which prevented the ride opening as originally planned in 2016. The mini coaster, which will feature a custom soundtrack from IMAscore, should be available for the start of the season on April 7. In Pakistan, a family coaster together with a classic double

deck carousel were due to be delivered this month by P&B to new park Bahria Adventure (bahriatown.com). In February, a new mini trailer-mounted coaster was due to be presented in co-operation with Majestic Manufacturing at the IISF trade show in Gibtown, Florida. A static version, suitable for indoor and outdoor parks, will also be available.

Also upcoming from P&B will be the firm's first fleet of Big

Truck bumper cars, headed to Future Kid in Kuwait. The same FEC is also getting an interactive Deep Water submarine ride. This new attraction concept features a set of six ride vehicles arranged like a jet/dumbo ride, but with transparent floors to give guests a view of the sea life below as they splash over the water's surface.

The Italian manufacturer’s first Deep Water submarine ride will open soon in Kuwait
