The backbone of the park is its ecological trail, but guests can also enjoy horseback riding,
archery, hiking, fishing and meeting with indigenous people and around 500 domestic animals. Set amidst natural scenery with beautiful and surprising landscapes, the ecological trail includes 17 theme stations that illustrate to visitors the most significant productive, natural, cultural and industrial aspects of the Coclé region. The Pleasure Garden is a quiet space with covered ranches that include an eating area amidst beautiful gardens very close to the main entrance. The Well of Desires, next to the ponds, invites guests to throw coins and ask for wishes. The Production Farm features a replica mud house with a trapiche mill used to extract the juice of local fruits, as well as a garden, cane field, coffee plantation and animals such as poultry, pigs, cows and goats. Guests can even milk the cows! A favourite theme station for many visitors is the Indigenous Village, a representation of the local aboriginal culture upon the arrival of the Spaniards (year 1522), with traditional crops, deer corral, tombs and huts. Visitors can also go fishing to catch their own food for lunch. Icacos Adventure also serves as a learning centre for students from across the country, who can have contact, in a fun way, with the flora and fauna of Panama.
Sport Land Costa Rica
This coming May, a new recreational facility will open in Costa Rica, offering children and adults a space to enjoy sports alongside other activities and, at least for a few moments, escape their electronic entertainment devices. Sport Land Costa Rica, in the city of Alajuela (20km from San Jose City, the country's capital), is being backed by several local entrepreneurs to the tune of US$5 million, with support from private banks. The entertainment offer will be segmented according to audience. Families, for example, will be able to enjoy horseback riding, go karts, mini golf, a flight simulator, swimming pool with water slides and a food court. For older kids and teenagers, options include paintball, ice skating, climbing walls, a skatepark, surf pool, canopy (zip line), roller coaster and scuba diving. Sports on offer will incude golf, volleyball, tennis, basketball, soccer and beach soccer. Not all of this will open at once, however. General manager José Sibaja explains that construction of the park will take place in several phases, the first of which will feature nine attractions spread over 40,700 square metres. By the completion of the end of the second and third phases in 2018, Sport Land Costa Rica park will offer around 20 attractions. An amphitheatre and a pet area are also planned at a later stage.
Visitors will be encouraged to buy annual memberships to Icacos Adventure Iron City Park
the park, currently on sale for the equivalent of $1,000 per year, each allowing access for up to four people. The development of Sport Land Costa Rica is being supervised by the US firm Great Parks.
