Park Update

so it travels through and around Tornado Springs. It’s the perfect place to be for an upclose view of Storm Chaser in action.
Tornado Springs has also seen the arrival of the park’s most intense and thrilling ride to date. Something that was quite unexpected for the family park, but is proving incredibly popular with thrill seeker families, Cyclonator. The Zamperla gyro swing sees riders reach the height of 25m, the highest point in the park. The ride helps to add that extra thrill for families that include older children, and even for the adults themselves. Leaving the park it’s a ride you can over hear a lot of people talking about.
Extra touches
Being Paultons Park, Tornado Springs comes with lots of extra touches including two new playgrounds aimed at different age groups. I’m reliably informed by my two “experts” that Junkyard Junction is best playground ever seen. Tornado Springs has also allowed the park’s food and beverage team to come up with new themed food items to fit in with Route 83 Diner. I recommend the waffles.
As the park approached the completion of Tornado Springs in early 2020, the pandemic couldn’t have come at a worse time but James Mancey, Operations Director, could see it had some benefits: “A project the size of Tornado Springs will never be without any challenges, normally these are limited to poor weather during construction and meeting deadlines however the pandemic threw a completely new and unexpected element at us. When COVID really hit the UK and we went into our first lockdown, the construction for TS was in full flow as we pushed to get the area ready for opening. With contractors from across Europe having to go home and our UK workforce all sent home we were left in limbo and our focus turned completely back to the operation of Paultons and what we needed to do to be ready

to reopen. When we finally got back to a point where we could reconvene work on TS it was a real challenge to get our European contractors back to complete and source materials. However, we got their finally and the extra time we had gave us an opportunity to really add those last finishing touches to the area. Working with Leisure Expert Group was a big part of the success of this project. Their expertise, the plans they produced, and the quality of their work really gave us the clear direction for the project.”
Anyone visiting Tornado Springs will see that Paultons haven’t finished with that part of the park yet, construction is well under way for the addition of a small family coaster. Farmyard Flyer from Zierer is set to open in 2022.
The growth and expansion of Paultons Park has been impressive to see. Ever since Peppa Pig World opened in 2011, the family-owned park has been able to carefully and wisely invest in transforming from being a small local park to one attracting visitors from across the UK. No doubt many corporate owned parks must look on at what the Mancey family have achieved with admiration and a desire to emulate the same success.
