G2E 2016
Gaming Association, as an Associate Member. In reviewing the overall Merkur Gaming experience at G2E Charles Hiten said: “I absolutely believe that this year’s G2E has marked a giant step forward in our activities across all of the Americas.”
Interblock
Luxury gaming manufacturer Interblock demonstrated data-driven innovation at G2E, through a blend of its core ETG (electronic table game) products and more than 12 new products, features, side bets, and progressives. The company’s goal was to show its customers how and why they should consider ETGs a distinct segment on the casino floor. Customers were particularly interested in
Interblock’s Diamond Stadium configurations. This product lets operators maximize their floor space by adding dealer assist, automated and/or video generators, and even incremental play stations based on their growing needs. At G2E, Interblock demonstrated how a dealer- assisted Stadium could easily be transformed into a fully automated Stadium, ensuring that the section is always active on the casino floor, and showing how the Stadium can generate constant revenue even without dealers. Interblock is the only company that offers four Stadium dealer assist generators that allow six different game forms: Roulette, Craps and Sic-Bo, Traditional Cards (Baccarat and Blackjack) and Multi-Hand Cards (Blackjack). The all-new Diamond Dual Roulette with
simultaneous multi-play and multi-game functionality also made its debut at G2E. This product allows players to play two Roulette games on the same screen, at the same time. The game is composed of two different colored Roulette generators that work in concert, allowing for no interruption in betting. The different colored generators and 27” graphic user interfaces make it easy for a player to follow the two active wheels. The TRIO, a visually impactful ETG island made up of three 5-seater automated ETG products, was another popular product that launched at G2E. The TRIO was designed to transform any footprint, large or small, by combining and connecting popular games into one unit. At the show, the game was configured with Blackjack, Roulette, and Craps and offered two new progressives. The highlight of Interblock’s display, however,
was the PULSE ARENA, which boosts a Stadium environment into a truly immersive, multi- sensory gaming experience that allows operators to change the atmosphere easily to attract any type of player segment — offering a club-like environment, core gaming experiences, or even an educational mode for beginners. The PULSE ARENA on display at
46 SEPTEMBER 2016
G2E 2016 included a variety of new key features and enhancements that built on the buzz PULSE generated at G2E 2015. Interblock recently announced its
partnership with some of the largest casino groups in the world on both Stadium and PULSE ARENA deployments, including SKY CITY Auckland, which will bring a Diamond Stadium with 67 play stations to their casino floor; Seneca Niagara, which will install a 39- seat PULSE ARENA; and HIT Group’s Perla Casino in Slovenia, which will deploy a 45-seat PULSE ARENA.
IGT As ever, IGT’s showing was too great to go
into depth here, but you can read an interview with a key member of the company’s senior staff in a forthcoming issue. In the meantime, we can tell you that the booth featured over 300 gaming innovations, including the completely wonderful Sphinx 4D, a really, genuinely excellent step forward for what was already a superb line of 3D slot products. The new game combines glasses-free 3D technology with gesture interaction and air haptic technology to make a remarkable impression on the player. Gesture recognition allows the player to interact with and manipulate 3D objects which appear to hover mid-air between seat and slot – and the haptic technology gives sensual feedback. It’s really quite something. There was also a new Wheel of Fortune theme, also in the True 3D line-up, and a couple of great Betty White slots – but it was the 4D experience that we left the show buzzing about, and which may well have been the standout experience of the entire event.
GLI
What can you say about GLI that hasn’t been said a hundred, a thousand times before – and by their customers? G2E saw the company’s message to visitors as ‘leave nothing to chance’ when it comes to quality testing, certification and professional services. The company was also celebrating two of its senior staff receiving industry honours, with VP of Global Marketing Christie Eickelman enjoying the Patty Becker Pay It Forward award; this award was given because Christie has helped other women on their paths to success, notably with the Global Gaming Women group. Christie said: “Being presented with an award like this is a huge honour because it not only outwardly recognizes the hard work each recipient has performed to help other women in gaming, but also gives women something to strive for in their own careers. I enjoy mentoring others and will continue to do so.” GLI’s Vice President of Government Relations and General Counsel Kevin P. Mullally, who is
also on the executive leadership team, was appointed by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) to Chair its Standards, Policy and Regulations Committee for the 2016-2017 term. As the author of the first self-exclusion program in the U.S. in 1996, Mullally has a long history of involvement in assisting with the development of responsible gaming policies. Mullally said, “I am honored to be able to
continue my long affiliation with the National Council on Problem Gambling and look forward to working with my exceptionally talented committee members to analyze the many important policy issues relating to the implementation of quality responsible gaming education, prevention and treatment programs.”
Cummins Allison Leading the line for Cummins Allison at
G2Ewas the addition of a new mixed-bag coin- collection system to its line of Money Machine 2 self-service coin counters. Casinos with a large number of coin-saving
customers now have the option of adding a 16 mixed-bag unit to their property. “The new system makes it a more feasible option for casinos whose limited coin pickup options have prevented them from offering coin counters in the past,” said Shane Murphy, vice president, Cummins Allison. “Mixed-bag machines offer the benefits and convenience of a bin with a lighter-weight container (bags) that can be picked up by virtually any carrier.” With 12% greater capacity than single-bin machines, mixed coin bag machines enable continuous processing, require less frequent bag changes and result in lower pick up and processing costs. “Customer satisfaction and increased foot
traffic are important drivers behind casinos investing in automation technologies. Ideally, they let customers turn their loose coin into playing cash, keeps casino change machines full, eliminating the need to buy coin and allows cage staff to focus on the customer service aspects of the play experience,” said Murphy. “Backed by our commitment to deliver the most dependable coin-counting equipment, services and program options, we believe Money Machine 2 allows virtually any gaming property to add coin-counting services to their operation,” concludes Murphy.
Betcade
The brilliant Betcade, the company that has launched a real-money gaming portal on Android, were also at G2E. A company statement issued after the show expressed their enjoyment of the event and underlined their commitment to G2E.
