Wholesaler Distributor I

DERBYSHIRE REFRIGERATION

n 1977 Refrigeration Engineer Terry Hill and wife Jacqueline started Derbyshire Refrigeration, Refrigeration contractors working all over the UK and employing 12 engineers. Back in the day, parts weren’t that easy to get hold of and deliveries from Wholesalers came in once a week. So he started striking deals and buying in bulk, ensuring he had spares in store. Word soon got round that he had plenty of stock in and other engineers started buying from him. This progressed over the years and in 1985, he finally took the leap and became an Independent Refrigeration Wholesaler. Daughter Vanessa joined the business

from School, followed a couple of years later by daughter Andrea. In 2000, Terry retired and the business was passed down to them both to run. He retained 10% of the business until his death in 2020. The business has changed quite a bit since 1985, but still has the same values and continue to supply parts to engineers all over the UK. Derbyshire Refrigeration is one of the

largest UK Independent refrigeration and air conditioning parts wholesalers, specialising in high quality tools from the world's best manufacturers. The trade counter is completely unique

in the trade and is well known for having high stock levels of equipment and parts. Vanessa passed her Refrigeration and Air Conditioning level 2 and 3 in 2003, this enables her to have a better understanding of the technical side of the business. Andrea came from a retail/ finance background. Both have now clocked over 60 years experience between them. They still both serve at the trade

counter and answer the phones. Since 2018, the business has offered f-gas training at the premises in a purpose built training room and workshop. This is carried out by an external company, Paul Bartle Training, an ex New College Nottingham lecturer, well-known in Nottingham for training many of the engineers in the area.

The business also supplies and supports

where possible Teknowhow run by Mel Crewe. Another distinguished name in the training field. Both women are avid supporters of

World Refrigeration Day, IOR Women in RACHP, Women in Cooling and both are members of the Institute of Refrigeration. Both are extremely proud of being in

the trade for so long and enjoy meeting engineers every day. Derbyshire Refrigeration has always taken huge pride in serving engineers and refrigeration professionals both onsite in Nottingham and also by telephone. Now, the same dedication has been applied to the website – which provides a large choice of products with instant availability and at the most competitive prices around – with the aim of it becoming an invaluable resource in it’s own right. The judges were impressed with the company’s forward thinking attitude with regards to training and diversity. The in- depth training programme ensures its teams can fully support its customers as individuals both pre and post sales.
