ACR News Awards 2023: a spectacular affair! T
he ACR News Awards took place at the Park Plaza London Riverbank on Wednesday 19
April, celebrating the best products, businesses and people from across the air conditioning and refrigeration sectors.
It has been said before and bears saying again that this is the one of the biggest little industries in the world, populated by some incredibly passionate people doing exceptionally innovative things and these Awards are all about celebrating that. The ACR News Awards has firmly established itself as focal point in the industry calendar since its launch in 1997 and this year was no different as hundreds of acr professionals gathered to honour innovative products driven not just by climate change, but also by engineers needs – and inspirational professionals from across the air conditioning and refrigeration sector. This first event was presented by comedian Rhys James and the voice of the National Lottery and Strictly Come Dancing, Alan Dedicoat. The glittering award ceremony began with the award for Trainee of the Year, which was won by Gareth Walsh from ICE AC. The next category was the Wholesaler/Distributor of the Year and that was awarded to Derbyshire Refrigeration. The third category of the evening was Marketing Initiative of the Year for which the Road to Net Zero Roadshow by Mitsubishi Electric took home the trophy. The Chiller Product of the Year was awarded to the Aquaforce Vision by Carrier. Next in the award programme was the Commercial Heat Pump of the
Year which was won by Swegon for its BlueBox GEYSER Sky R0. The winner for Domestic Heat Pump of the Year was awarded to Daikin's Altherma 3 Low Capacity Monobloc. Environmental Initiative of the Year came next, and the winner was the Buildings As Safe Havens (BASH) Guide by Mitsubishi Electric in collaboration with BESA. Next was the award for Ancillary Product of the Year and the trophy was awarded to the SR47 Wireless Refrigerant Scale by Fieldpiece. After this was the Refrigeration
Product of the Year which was taken home by Bitzer for its Ecolite 2.0. The next category was the Air Conditioning Product of the Year, which was awarded to Daikin UK for the VRV 5 Heat Recovery.
The Diversity In Industry accolade was awarded to the brilliant Lisa-Jayne Cook from GEA Group. The Alan Moor Award, sponsored by Bitzer is always a highlight and this year was no different with David Paget as the 2023 recipient. We would like to say well done to all of the ACR News Awards winners and finalists, as well as extend our thanks to everyone who attended. The evening was full of entertainment, great networking opportunities and delicious food and drink at a spectacular venue. We continue to live in unpredictably challenging times and it is therefore important to say thank you to all those who took the time to enter. The ACR News Awards team would like to offer their congratulations to all of this years winners and look forward to welcoming everyone to the 2024 Awards next spring.
Managing editor Lynn Sencicle and Journal manager Steve Bennion introduced the awards event.
