Manchester-based Coolair Services believes in experience, whether its using the knowledge to keep customers satisfied or investing in young people to ensure they build up that knowledge base.

oolair Services was formed in 1997 by John Gay who has 60 years experience in air conditioning and refrigeration. Operations director Andy Smith boasts a further 40, and both are supported by regional service managers who bring almost 50 years combined experience. All of the senior management team started their careers at apprentice level and have worked their way up through the ranks. This has created a business which believes wholeheartedly in supporting the next generation of engineers coming through.


Apprenticeship programmes are continually run, and have proved a big success over the years with many current engineers starting this way. It is an investment in the individual and an investment in the future of the company.


Coolair Services boast unrivalled skill sets and experience levels, while representing their customers’ businesses to the highest degree. The company offers a one-stop-shop for all air conditioning needs, installation, service and maintenance – with customers ranging from private homes, small businesses to schools, hospitals and office blocks all the way up to several Premiership football clubs and other prestige customers. Many of the UK’s leading facilities management companies are also supported.


Offering national coverage, and operating out of offices in Manchester and Maidstone, Coolair Services has partnerships with all the major manufacturers, and a large team of in-house engineers located all over the country. In 2017 the company expanded its head office in Manchester, moving into a bigger building and followed that up in January 2018 by also moving its southern office to large premises. In both cases this allowed the company to us to increase

the number of extra office support staff needed in both regions, to cope with the demands of the company’s expanding customer base. To coincide with the expansions, the new website (www.coolairservicesltd.co.uk) was rolled out alongside an increased presence over social media on Facebook and Twitter.


Having an established business in installation works as well as service and maintenance has not been enough for Coolair Services, so in January 2018 a dedicated sales department was set up to cope with an ever-increasing demand – a move that the company deems an unmitigated success with no signs of slowing down.


While the department might be new, in line with the company’s ethos, the team is not. The sales manager has worked in the industry for over 20 years and is supported by an established administration team, as well as multiple teams of skilled and qualified engineers.


Investment continues to propel the company


forward and over the past 12 months the service and installation vehicle fleets have been updated with the purchase of several new estate cars and long wheel base vans.


With an eye to proving its level of quality, the company’s most recent achievement is its ISO9001 accreditation as well as the new ISO45001 standard. ‘We are extremely proud of this as it was a real team effort that was only possible due the fact that we work so well together as a team. Everyone played their part, from the engineers, to admin, management all the way up to director level.’ Going forward, 2019 promises to be as hectic and as exciting as the past two years have been. As well as expanding the sales department in both offices due to the high demand during its first full year, the company is currently upgrading its bespoke database to make sure the business continues to provide great customer service as it grows further.
