It makes sense to cover the safe handling of A2L refrigerants alongside hydrocarbons, because the guidance is the same. There is no reason to consider A2Ls differently. Although they fall into a lower flammability class, they can be ignited and so should be handled using the same practical precautions as with HCs.
The main impact of lower flammability is that larger charge sizes can be used compared to HC
refrigerants. Charge size can be further increased by the use of construction requirements and the risk mitigation methods mentioned above. It is important that engineers understand what these requirements and methods are, to avoid A2Ls being applied inappropriately.

Training is essential for technicians working on flammable refrigerant systems, and for engineers specifying the refrigerants and designing systems.
In conclusion, the basic practices are the same as when we first started providing HC training over 20 years ago. However, the flammable refrigerant range has expanded and flammable refrigerants are used in a much wider variety of equipment.
As a business, we have seen a steady increase in the uptake of flammable refrigerant training in line with industry developments, and scope of the training has widened as industry has evolved and continues to do so.
