F-Gas continues to put pressure on HFC refrigerants as Peter Dinnage, technical director at Climalife, explains.

e have seen how the F-Gas phase-down steps have aff ected price and availability of R404A, R507 and R410A, and now it is the turn of R134a. With the EU market having to reduce CO2


equivalent tonnes placed on the market in 2018 by 37% compared to


the 2015 baseline, pressure exists on the mix of refrigerants available. This was envisaged to be accomplished by the market moving to lower GWP refrigerants across all applications. Whilst many may have thought that, with a GWP of 1430, R134a was not going to be aff ected by the 2018
