REFRIGERANTS for rapid recovery

time when the F-Gas Regulations’ phase out of high GWP HFCs means that the door is closing on R404A.

The refrigerant R448A (Solstice N40) is a non-flammable HFO blend used as a replacement for R404A and R22 in low and medium temperature refrigeration applications. It provides an excellent combination of low GWP (around 1400) and high energy efficiency. R448A also offers a reduced compressor discharge temperature at medium and low temperature conditions.

Our Rapid Recovery equipment is

independent of services like power, is portable an d with 60-metre plus hoses it can reach RAC units in the most difficult places.

One of the compressor packs on the roof of the store was 50 metres away and this was reached with ease. In a short space of time we took care of the recovery of the old gas

and retrofit of the new. This allowed the firm to get on with other tasks on behalf of the customer with minimal disruption to normal s tore operations

Rapid Recovery was launched in the US to provide an outsourced refrigerant recovery service to contractors.

A-Gas bought the company after it

recognised that by offering a similar service in the UK, and other countries, it could make a big difference in the way the industry handles the F-Gas phase-downs.

This year’s 37% cut in the quota for the production of virgin gases is having a major e ffect on the industry, and this figure rises to 44% if you include pre-charged equipment. With equipment still running on R404A and other high GWP refrigerants, recovery and reclamation has a key role to play to ensure that there is a sufficient quantity of refrigerant

available. Our separation capacity at A-Gas will also help maintain the supply of R404A to the market at times when availability is tight. Rapid Recovery has a network of recovery v ehicles and engineers in place to give refrigeration contractors national coverage, and this is available to go on site at short notice to tackle jobs of all sizes.

A-Gas Rapid Recovery provides recovery

services to a wide range of industries, including refrigeration, HVAC, demolition, and marine. The Rapid Recovery team will take care of all aspects of the work from start to finish, including hazardous waste documentation and job site reports.

Normally, a job like the one at the store would have had a significant impact on the day-to-day running of the supermarket, but business at the store continued as usual with minimum disruption.
