operations in the UK, Canada and the USA. Although its core business is the manufacture of printable media, mounting adhesives and laminating films for graphic applications, over the last few years Drytac has diversified into new markets, such as medical, industrial, tapes and speciality labels. coating aqueous, solvent based and hot melt adhesives, the company has recently expanded its capabilities to include pattern coating, which has proven to be highly successful and has contributed to significant sales growth in 2016. The process enables adhesive to be

pattern coated with possibilities to vary the shape, size, thickness, frequency and coat weight. Initially this pattern coating technology has been utilised on Drytac’s SpotOn printable media developed for temporary graphics and signage. The adhesive dot pattern allows air to evacuate when mounting large format graphics, which enables bubble-free application without the need for professional installers, tools or wet application. As adhesive coverage is lower than full web coating, the technology allows easy removal

available to other manufacturers and coaters as part of Drytac’s Custom Coating Service. The company is already providing major manufacturers with pattern coating options to utilise on their own products. There are many applications for pattern coating within, for example, the medical market, where breathability and high moisture vapour transmission rates are often required. Another market in which Drytac has been

successful is durable labels used for demanding applications, such as chemical drums. Drytac’s Teslin-based product, TES10, was certified for BS5609 Section 2 Marine Immersion early in 2016 and has quickly become well established in this sector. The material has an aggressive adhesive with water resistance which adheres well to the wide variety of materials used to manufacture chemical drums, such as HDPE, fibre and steel. Durable labels based on laser printable PET are currently in development and will be submitted for BS5609 certification later in 2017. With technology and innovation
