ICE Europe 2017 Preview
ATLAS CONVERTING EQUIPMENT HALL A6 STAND 245 At the show the company will be launching a range of inspection rewinder machines to complement the Titan range of slitter rewinders. The models IR60, IR135, IR165 and RR165 of
inspection machines will unwind, inspect and rewind material to improve the quality of the mother rolls going into the slitter rewinder, eliminating the need to stop it, increasing efficiency.
Identifying defects in the web can be done
either by a fully automatic 100 per cent inspection system, manually using stroboscopic systems, or by entering multiple stop signals based upon the flag location. The machines include a splice table so the operator can remove all defects, greatly reducing waste and time. Barrie Homewood, sales director for Titan
products, says: “These inspection machines complement our range of Titan slitter rewinders and deliver enhanced productivity and quality for our customers. Real productivity improvements are seen when large diameter ‘clean rolls’ are supplied to the slitter rewinder.” The IR135 & IR165 Compact Inspection
machines can also be used to splice together smaller mother roll diameters and deliver a larger mother roll, again increasing efficiencies of the slitter. Meanwhile, the RR165, with its overhead web path, can incorporate additional ‘valued added’ processes, such as web laser perforation/scoring and other web treatments.
SML HALL A6 STAND 554 Flexible products is one of the fastest growing segments and SML’s commitment is reflected by its FlexPack co- extrusion coating and laminating line. With its modular construction, the line can be designed
according to specific customer needs and for the extrusion of raw materials like PP, LDPE, EVA and EAA. It is possible to equip FlexPack with additional features that range from a primer coating station, tandem configuration and ozone treatment to supplementary unwinds. In addition, the DoubleCoat process, for which a
patent is pending, can be integrated into a standard FlexPack coating line to create fresh opportunities in the breathable product field. DoubleCoat combines extrusion coating with hot melt lamination and enables coating thickness minimisation. The DoubleCoat and FlexPack combination is suitable for manufacturing soft touch hygiene products, like surgical drapes.
EUROMAC HALL A6 STAND 484 Join Euromac for a coffee or a local Barbera wine on its stand at ICE Europe. This year is the company’s 50-year anniversary, and it will showcase one of its newest systems, the high-end duplex TB3-M (movable rewind shafts) series that consists of a new rewind section combining a variation of rewind advantages. The rewind section of the TB3-M has a short and direct web path from slitting section to
rewind, in which constant gap rewinding is one of the many possibilities, which also include running a different rewind diameter on superior and inferior rewind shafts. The machine to be displayed at ICE Europe is

the TB3.08M, with a rewind diameter up to 850mm and maximum working speed up to 800m/min. There are also various other offerings, like a new automatic knife unit with millimetric depth adjustment and much more.
TRESU GROUP HALL A6 STAND 474
Henrik Kristensen, vice-president, TRESU Ancillary, comments: “With package converters facing demands for shorter production runs and greater quality consistency, controlling processes is essential. At ICE Europe 2017, we will be exhibiting automated ink and coating supply solutions that meet these challenges, enabling increased uptime, faster printing speeds, minimal manual input and reduced material waste.” The TRESU F10 iCon ink supply system
regulates ink flow, pressure and viscosity, ensuring a constant, accurate ink density on the printed substrate, without air contamination. Elsewhere, TRESU’s chamber doctor blade
systems bring reduced ink and substrate waste, uniform print quality, increased press speeds, shorter cleaning times and reduced emissions.
HÖNLE GROUP HALL A5 STAND 852 New from Hönle is the LightGuide pureUV. The so- far water-cooled barrier was replaced by a quartz glass tube; this results in a 50 per cent higher peak intensity and 10 per cent more drying performance, at a 15 per cent lower temperature load. Another advantage is its ease of operation. The
LightGuide pureUV has got a quick-change technology; a plug base is integrated into its housing to guarantee a fast UV lamp exchange. As well as this, Hönle will showcase its LED
Powerline Focus, which is optimised for greater distances from the substrate. A high intensity is achieved by using a particular focusing optic. This leads to extraordinary curing results even at high operating speeds. The modular design of LED Powerline permits to switch off single segments for an easy adaption to smaller web sizes.
